| Job Description:
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Criminalistics Laboratory is seeking a qualified applicant for a position in our Biology/DNA Section. The major duties of this position include evidence examination for the presence or absence of body fluids and performing DNA analysis methods. The duties also include maintaining laboratory records, writing laboratory reports, and providing expert courtroom testimony. The position may also require crime scene investigation duties including availability for on-call hours outside of the normal work day including week-ends and holidays.
*This is a grant funded position; therefore, salary ranges are limited to the following hourly equivalent range: $27.28 - $30.76.
| Job Requirements:
|| Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or forensic science related area. The candidate must have completed a minimum of 9 semester or equivalent credit hours of course work covering the subject areas of biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology. In addition, coursework or training in statistics and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis is preferred. The applicant will be required to successfully complete a Biology/DNA training program and a qualifying test before beginning independent casework responsibilities.
