24th Anniversary of Two Unsolved Johnson County Murders

Johnson County, Kan. – May 30, 2013 marked the 24th anniversary of two unsolved murders in Johnson County. Christina Brandolese was found murdered at about 7:45 a.m. on May 30, 1989 in the 26000 block of 199th St. in rural Johnson County. Three days later on June 2, 1989, Candice Fisher was found in the 25500 block of West 191st St. Both women died of blunt force trauma and officers believe the murders are connected.

Christina Brandolese was found at the end of a driveway in the 26000 block of 199th Street, in rural Johnson County. Cause of death was blunt force trauma and her body had been set on fire. Christina was last seen getting into a maroon Ford Pinto hatchback in the area of Independence Ave. and Garfield St., Kansas City, Missouri, at about 2:30 a.m. on May 29, 1989. The person or persons responsible for Christina’s death may be involved in the Candice Fisher homicide.

Fisher was last seen on May 29, 1989 at about 4 p.m., in the area of 37th & Main St., Kansas City, Missouri. On June 2, 1989 at about 12:30 p.m., her nude body was found in a hedge row in the 25500 block of W. 191st St. in rural Johnson County. Cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Additional similarities include: Both women worked as prostitutes in Kansas City to support drug habits and both of their bodies were found within two miles of each other nude and burned.

Deputies worked more than 190 leads but are still no closer to solving these cases and are reaching out to the public once again for help.
