Maximum Security Team
For the safety and security of the citizens of Johnson County, the Sheriff’s Office has
developed and currently maintains a Maximum Security Team in the Adult Detention Center.
The main objective of this team is to ensure the safety of the deputies, the inmates and the
citizens of Johnson County by maintaining a high degree of integrity, discipline and structure
within the environment that they work. The areas within the Adult Detention Center that this
team oversees are comprised of the maximum security modules, administrative segregation modules,
disciplinary segregation modules and the protective custody modules.
The Maximum Security Team
is also trained specifically for working in this environment and in how to deal with the types
of individuals that are housed in these high risk modules as some of the modules contain inmates
from all custody levels.
This team also employs its own training officers that are trained in
teaching the proper procedures and techniques of the modules under its control, and works in
close collaboration with the Classifications division in order to maintain a clear and open path
of communication between these two areas of the Adult Detention Centers.
This specific combination
of high caliber officers, specific training, and open communication with other divisions has lead
to a much safer area within the Adult Detention Center. This in turn leads to a safer place for
deputies to work, for inmates to be housed, and most importantly for the citizens of Johnson County.
