Property Room Information
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has two detention facility Property Rooms, one located within the New Century Detention Center and the other at the Olathe Detention Center. The Detention Center’s Property Rooms are responsible for the custody and care of every person’s property that may enter either facility.
The two property rooms are staffed 24/7 by Civilian Specialists that are specifically trained to work within that environment. When individuals are processed into either facility, all of their belongings that are taken from them are accounted for and any money they may have is deposited in their inmate account where they can spend any funds on such things as commissary items or needed medication.
Individuals that know they are coming to our facilities are allowed to bring white underclothing and basic toiletry items that they can have once assigned to a housing module. The Property Rooms also allow inmates to release their property to another person once authorized through the submission of an Inmate Communication Form. The Property Rooms are also responsible for the dressing-in of inmates into a jail uniform who have been classified to various modules within the facilities.
